Universal Studios Orlando Rides and Attractions
Universal Studios Orlando brings the movies to life. What sets the rides of Universal Studios Orlando apart from other theme parks is the way that Universal Studios blends technology into some extremely unique rides and attractions. Here you will experience the thrills and adventures of your favorite movies like Jaws, The Mummy, E.T., Men in Black and Shrek.
Here is a quick preview of each set in the Universal Studios Back Lot as well as some of my personal top picks.
PRODUCTION CENTRAL
- Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast
- Board your rocket and blast off with boy genius Jimmy Neutron and his friends while they take you on a wild chase through the worlds of your favorite Nicktoons including Sponge Bob Squarepants and The Rugrats. Visit Bikini Bottom when you exit the ride and have your photo taken with Sponge Bob himself. If you love your "Toons", you'll love this wild chase.
Sophia and Jess with Shrek - Shrek 4-D
Gary’s Top Pick
- Experience the miracle of OgreVision and join Shrek, Donkey and Princess Fiona on a 4-D adventure while they rid Duloc of that pesky, little Lord Farquaad once and for all. The preshow introduction is almost as fun as the show itself. Not only do you see and hear this imaginative tale, you really feel it too! Don’t forget to visit with the ogre himself, Shrek, after the show.
NEW YORK
- Twister … Ride It Out!
- Experience a tornado like never before. Get up and close with one of the most action-packed movies of all time as the swirling vortex of a tornado blows you away. Beware … you may get wet, especially if you are in the back row.
- Revenge of the Mummy
Gary’s Top Pick
- Imhotep rises from the darkness as you face fireballs, scarab beetles and an army of warrior mummies on a thrill ride unlike anything you’ve experienced before. If you like roller coasters, you'll love this ride. Part coaster and part thrill ride. You'll zip off at speeds of up to 45 mph, forwards and backwards! But you'll want to keep moving before the scarab beetles get you. Don’t forget to try out the various props as you wait in line in the tomb of Imhotep himself.
- Extreme Ghostbusters Show
- The Ghostbusters are about to face a new foe … Beetlejuice, who is about to turn the paranormal terminators into a dreaded boy band. Consult your Universal Studio Guide on the day of your visit for show times.
- The Blues Brothers
- Come and party on Delancey Street with Jake and Elwood, the bad boys of blues. Consult your Universal Studio Guide on the day of your visit for show times.
- Street Breakz
- Watch heads spin as gravity is defied on 7th Avenue by Universal Studios’ award winning break dancers. Consult your Universal Studio Guide on the day of your visit for show times.
SAN FRANCISCO/AMITY
- Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Review
Gary’s Top Pick
- The classic Monsters of Universal Studios Orlando unleash their hot sound in a spooktacular rock ‘n roll revue loud enough to wake the dead. Consult your Universal Studio Guide on the day of your visit for show times.
- Jaws
Gary’s Top Pick
- Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, The Great White Terror of Jaws is back! This time you’re the one riding in the boat through the water where he’s lurking. You may get wet as Jaws explodes from the water. Great view from the left side of the boat, row 6. Your boat captain will keep you highly entertained on this wild boat tour.
Getting Eaten by Jaws! - NEW
Disaster - A Motion Picture Ride Starring You
- Disaster uses a new technology called Musion. Musion takes two-dimensional images and transforms them into what appear to be live, three-dimensional images. You'll be immersed while trying to survive an earthquake that's 8.3 on the Richter scale.
WORLD EXPO
- Men in Black – Alien Attack
Gary’s Top Pick
- Pilot your ship and aim your laser as you test your alien-zapping skills in this amazing ride through MIB agent training. Wait for Zed to tell you to “push the button at the end of the ride” to obtain special bonus points.
- COMING SOON TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS ORLANDO
The Simpson's Ride
- The Simpson's Ride will be taking the place of Back to the Future at Universal Studios Orlando and will be opening in spring 2008. Board your vehicle and prepare yourself for one surprise after another as you embark on a wild, over-the-top ride through Krustyland.
WOODY WOODPECKER’S KIDZONE
- Animal Actors on Location
- This outrageous show features a humorous mix of live animal performances and audience interactions. When animals are running the show, don’t be the least bit surprised when things don’t go quite as scripted. Consult your Universal Studio Guide on the day of your visit for show times.
- A Day in the Park with Barney
- Join Barney the Dinosaur and all of his friends at Universal Studios Orlando for a magical sing-along, clap-along show. Experience Barney’s interactive playground after the show. Consult your Universal Studio Guide on the day of your visit for show times.
- E.T. Adventure
- E.T.’s planet is dying and he needs your help. Hop aboard your bike and head to the stars to help E.T. in this charming adventure. Sophia says "this ride is great for all, but especially pre-teens and children." I agree. If you're a fan of the movie, don't miss this ride.
- Curious George Goes to Town
- Bring your swim suit or some dry clothes as you experience Curious George’s water playground.
- Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster
Gary’s Top Pick
- A great coaster for the kids as you zip around and through Woody Woodpecker’s own nut factory.
- Fievel’s Playland
- A play area for kids where they can run, jump and play in this unique “mouse-eye-view” playground. It’s also a time for parents to relax while the kids are playing.
Jess & Jess Love Dora!

- Terminator 2: 3-D Battle Across Time
Gary’s Top Pick
- Things go awry at Cyberdyne where live action meets 3-D and you join forces with the Terminator while he battles to save earth from impending doom. A great opportunity to take a load of your feet while taking in a truly pulse-pounding clash to save humanity.
- Lucy – A Tribute
- Universal Studios Orlando's fitting tribute to Lucille Ball where you can see classic shows, costumes, scripts, rare home movies and more from the world’s favorite comedienne.
